Dream is the reaction to the identity crisis of the Kulturforum. At the boundaries of Postdammer Platz, it has the aim of generating centrality in a city in continue evolution and growth. As skyscraper - the museum of the 20th century - earns value of landmark - with a height of 160 metres above the water - so allowing the Kulturforum to establish both a temporal and visual dialogue with the high rise buildings, symbol of the new reborn of berlin and of its rise from the negative events of time.
The height becomes the optic and emblematic media to revitalise an area at the edge of oblivion, in a dynamic and vibrant Berlin - where every landmark offers new possibilities to its surrounding neighbourhoods and squares.
The Kulturforum becomes integral part of a new cultural system ready to be questioned. It develops through vertical spaces, which heights vary so to create different rooms able to enhance the collection exhibited in it.
The visitors wonder freely inside the museum: floor by floor they fight against gravity, in a long promenade to reach the top. In its unity, the museum of the 20th century becomes the connection between earth and sky, man and architecture. A simple element, with no openings, which sends a strong message in its apparent anonymity and which identifies itself as a stylistic reagent in a rich context, designed through combinations of compositional elements.
